I have a greate honour to welcome you the European Powerlifting Federation´s officials, lifters, coaches, referee´s and all the others who have planned to come here in Ylitornio for the 32nd Men´s and 27th Women´s European Powerlifting Championships. I am sure that all of you who will come here will enjoy your time being here and that we shall have a good time together during the Championships.
Ylitornio is not a big city, we have slightly under 5 000 inhabitans in our municipality. I believe that most of you live in much bigger places. But I can assure you that we can arrange good Championships that you will remember for a long time. I also believe that our pure nature and the picturesque landscape will help us to make you comfortable and welcome her in Finnish Lapland at the Arctic Circle.
We started our Championships project approximately three years ago when Mr. Sorsa send me an email that the Congres of European Powerlifting congress had give the Championships to Finland and Ylitornio. At same day we got our first meeting here in Ylitornio and started to plan this Event.
We have over 100 volunteer workers in our Championship organization. I have all reason to believe that each one of us will do absolutely our best that the arrangements will succeed best possible way. We are alla working from our hearts and souls as good as we can. We feel grateful to our co-operators' and sponsors' and the municipality of Ylitornio that they have make our project possible.
I wish that the 32nd Men's and 27th Women's European Powerlifting Championships here in Ylitornio will be held in fair play spirit. I wish all you warmly welcome to Ylitornio.
